Classic Florence Italy method of sealing Plaster Casts with Casein

The casein in skimmed milk will absorb into the plaster to seal the pores of the cast

  • Skimmed Milk (around 0.1% fat)

  • Clean Soft Brush

  • Paper Towels

Brush the skimmed milk on to the surface

Wipe away drips and runs with your brush, wipe the brush on a paper towel

Set aside to dry

Apply 2 to 3 coats of the skimmed milk

If after applying the Casein you want a translucent shine:

  • Talcum Powder

  • Cotton Balls or Soft Cotton Cloth

Apply a bit of talcum powder with a cotton ball or soft cotton cloth

Polish to create a luster
